Life Above PAR
Life Above PAR tracks author Phil Robinson’s adventures through 60 years of golf. The adventures run the gamut of emotions -- from funny, to tragic, and even a couple about love.
The book is set up like a round of golf. There are 18 holes (stories), a Halfway House with Chip Shots (short stories) and a 19th hole with favorite 19th holes and 19th hole encounters. It concludes with an Appendix featuring his 12 Step Guide for Successful Business Golf, Business Golf Stories, Favorite Fairway Finds and his Top 99 Courses played.
Phil resides in Hanover, MA with his wife Tina. He has two sons, Erik and Kurt. Sports have played a major role in his life. From playing high school and college football to coaching both his sons in multiple sports to being a board certified official in football, basketball and baseball, he has gained many memorable experiences from his multiple sporting involvements.
Golf came along and has become a passion. Maybe his parents knew what was to come when they gifted him the perfect golf initials, PAR.

Phil and I live in a parallel golf universe! He and I have several local connections that I was unaware of until I read his book. It's a great light read and his life experiences really paint a picture of a regular guy going thru life's ups and downs but never losing his connection to the game he loves. A must read for golfers and anyone who just want to read a positive story that will bring a smile to your face.

If you love the game, this is a must read book. Phillip A Robinson, Jr. (PAR) has written a book that every enthusiast of the game of golf will see themselves in. It’s the game we can never win, nor one that we can quit. It’s a game that we travel endlessly for and, in doing so, make new friends. From spouses and playing partners to caddies and clients, PAR remembers a lifetime of rounds in amazing detail, and what comes through is his love of the game, and the fascinating people the game has introduced him to along the way. I really enjoyed reading this book and while it is certainly about golf (how on earth does the author remember where his shots went 40 years after he hit them?!) it is mostly about how one man handled his life, his great hobby, fatherhood and finding true love. A very entertaining read!
